“I have been volunteering with AARF since 2013. Holding, cuddling, kissing cats, dogs, kittens and puppies is incredibly gratifying and fun! On the human side, the family of volunteers that have come together with this common bond of caring and helping lost and sick animals is remarkable. You feel part of a greater cause. The icing on the cake is when you help someone find their new family member and you watch them connect. All that hard work turns to pure joy. My life is continuously enriched through volunteering at AARF.”

Do I need any experience to be a volunteer?

No, AARF is always looking for volunteers with any level of experience as long as they love animals! Some opportunities will require training. Can I decide how I want to help?

On the volunteer application, you can specify things that you might be interested in doing. We try to match your interests and skills to our currents needs.

Is there a training or orientation?

Yes, many volunteer opportunities require some training.  Depending on what you will be doing, there maybe a group training session. Some tasks require very specific knowledge of what to do, but many don’t. Before beginning any volunteer service you will receive full instruction and someone is always available to help.
